Hi! I'm Katie💗 I have three wonderful children who are 5, 3, and 2 years old. I've been married to a firefighter for almost 6 years, and we live in Lee's Summit. After having incredible, unmedicated births with my doula, I felt a God-given calling to become a doula myself! I have loved every moment of this journey, and every birth I attend deepens my passion for birth work! In my free time I enjoy singing at my church, baking gluten-free goodies for my Celiac family, and playing piano.

Hi! I’m Kate 🤍 I’m a mama to 6 beautiful children with one being bonus and two with Jesus! My living children are 14, 3, and 22 month old twins. I’ve been married to my wonderful and hardworking husband for 2.5 years now and reside in Pleasant Hill on 5 acres with chickens 🐓 I obtained my nursing degree in 2021 and after spending 10 years in the nursing field, I was called to stay home with my children in 2023. At the end of 2023 and several years of feeling called to serve women in the birth space, I decided to become a doula myself! Every moment of this journey is an absolute blessing and learning experience. Each birth is so beautiful and unique in its very own way and women are so dang powerful! My long-term goal is to become a homebirth midwife, but for now while my children are young, I’ll continue to serve women in the role of a doula and continue my education to hopefully one day be the best midwife I can be!

The Full Story

Kate and I met at our doula training that we took through GEM (Global Education of the Midwife). We both had an incredible passion for birth, and were completely awe-struck by all of the birth stories we heard during our training. We easily became friends and wanted to keep in touch afterwards.

A couple months later, I was praying about how I wanted to proceed being a doula. I was feeling anxious because I knew God had given me this dream and I knew He would provide a way for me to fulfill it, but I wasn't sure exactly how that was going to take place. Doulas need to be available 24/7 for clients who might go into labor, and I didn't see how that could be a possibility for me when I had young children at home and inconsistent childcare options.

As I was praying, I felt the Holy Spirit nudge my heart to ask Kate if she would be interested in partnering with me. I reached out to her and asked if she would possibly be interested in partnering, and she replied "YES" immediately! Little did I know, God had been speaking to her heart to ask ME to partner with HER! We were both super grateful for the leading of the Lord, and confidently started Selah Doula Co. together.
